Picture of Me
My wife took a picture of me recently while we were at a Chinese restaurant. Since I’m usually behind the camera, it’s rare to get pictures of myself. This one actually turned out reasonably well, so I’m posting it.

hi i am 17 years old and currently doing my A level photogrphy exam and i chose the topic of water! I came acrosss your picture of the oils and water one, could you please tell me how you did this or some ways of creating this affect. I have put your picture in my black book and wrote a bit about you and obviously that i found it online. Dont worry if you wish not to tell me its probably real simple to but thats what i am haha! please get back to me any other tips would be very much appreciated!

I’ve taken far too long in responding to this, but mostly because I don’t really have much information to offer. I took the photo at a drive-through window where a large amount of oil had apparently leaked out of running vehicles.
It had recently rained, and the sun was in a favorable position to provide excellent lighting. I snapped a single photo with my PDA, and was extremely pleased at how well it turned out.
I wish I’d had a better camera with me at the time. Now I carry a 5 Megapixel pocket digital camera with me all the time. It’s not the best camera I own, but it’s the one that’s there every time I see something photo-worthy.
