My 20-year-old daughter is a mother, which apparently makes me a grandfather. The cool part of becoming a grandfather is that it comes with a grandchild–a grandson in this case. Here is some photographic evidence.

This Christmas my brother-in-law came up with a fun joke to play on my Mom. He gave her a Christmas CD of David Archuleta singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and he asked me to create a fake cover of Lady Gaga singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He recorded her reaction.

I brightened up my self-portrait and added a few more highlights, and completely reworked the color version. I’m happier with them now (although there are some pretty rough areas in the highlights if you look closely)…

Tonight I drew a picture of a beaver for my daughter to color. I think he’s casting a spell on that tree. I have no other explanation for the position of his paws.

Mostly for my own entertainment I’ve come up with an alternative set of numeric digits. Instead of using base 10 (decimal—one’s place, ten’s place, hundred’s place, etc.) I chose base 16 (hexadecimal—one’s place, sixteen’s place, two-hundred-fifty-six’s place, etc.). Hexadecimal works out well because I used four base symbols to represent 1, 2, 4, and 8. [...]

This weekend I was playing a game (3D Reversi Deluxe) where the computer players have portrait illustrations associated with them, and my eight year old daughter said that I needed a portrait too. My kids really like Little Big Planet. I made this Sackboy outline (Sackboy is the main character) so I can print it out and my eight year old daughter can decorate her own Sackboys and girls.
