Fresh Wheat

I recently went on a walk with a friend from work. We walked through a field and found some wheat growing wild.

We had a mini-harvest, and ate it.

Then we went back to work.

More Independence Day Fun

Here’s another firework photo that turned out OK:

sploding-fountain

I took a lot of pictures that look similar to this one, but this one stood out as the one to post.

Fireworks

I guess it’s been about a year since I started this weblog. One of my earliest posts was around Independence Day, with a photo of my kids watching us light fireworks. We did fireworks with our kids again tonight, because… it’s Independence Day. I took pictures again. Here’s one:

Some uninteresting trivia:
That picture is hosted on Flickr instead of my web server. I’m considering going with that approach for future posts.

I moved this weblog’s official URL (or URI if you’re hip) again. I expect this one to last quite a while. It’s www.woodpress.org. I plan to keep redirects around indefinitely.

Spiderfest

Here is the complete collection of the spider photos I have posted on Woodpress so far, all crammed into one post. It’s like a flashback episode! I hope there are no major disagreements between them.

This isn’t a spider, but it’s an arachnid, so I’m including it:

I hate to include this one, because I still regret having killed it, but:

Sand Crabs

While we were in San Diego, we visited the beach. I took pictures of sand crabs, and contributed a couple to Wikipedia.

Here’s a bonus picture not found on Wikipedia (but maybe I’ll contribute it), of the underside of a female sand crab. She has a protective flap covering her eggs (mostly — you can see some eggs if you look closely).

Two Orca Jumping

I’m on vacation with my family in San Diego. Today we went to Seaworld. Here’s a photo I took of two orca jumping:

A Blue and Brown Dragonfly, and a Spider… Oh, and a Quarter.

I took pictures of a dragonfly.

and a spider!

… and I scanned a quarter.

In summary, I made some little stuff bigger.

I’ll probably be posting some larger versions on my deviantart account in the near future.
