Lost Spider and Arachnid

This spider was apparently lost. It was a good 10 miles from my house. I didn’t invite it home, though. I think other people should be able to enjoy spiders too.

Fuzzy faced spider

I spotted this arachnid (technically not a spider because it only has one body section) about 50 yards from where I found fuzzy face (above). This poor little guy is missing a leg.

Daddy longlegs

The full-resolution (about 700 K) arachnid is pretty amazing.

Military Vehicle

I went for a walk yesterday and saw this vehicle sitting in a parking lot. It had California plates. I suspect it’s civilian-owned and the mounted gun is a replica.

Kids at Play

The following is a true story, as told by my wife.

M is my 2-year old daughter.

W is my 6-year old son.

W: I’m Cyborg, who do you want to be?
M: Batman!
W: You can’t be Batman. How about Robin?
M agreed and they ran off to fight bad guys.
W (yelling): Robin, save me!
M: How, I forgot my weapon!
W: See! THAT’S why you can’t be Batman!

Which is a good point, Batman needs to remember his gadgets.

Woodlice

Woodlice (potato bugs, pill bugs, roley poleys, etc.) are very interesting looking critters. I have evidence.

Distressed Snail

This morning I found a snail in my yard. Judging from its sad little frown, it wasn’t completely thrilled about being picked up.

I put it back where I got it, though… and I think it forgave me. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything too important.

Reflective Bug Picture

Last night I saw this bug on a window, so naturally I snapped a few photos. I like how this one turned out. The actual bug is overexposed, but I think it works out because of the reflections.

This is what it looked like before I cleaned it up.

Head Shots of Deceased Celebrities on IMDb

I would like to see imdb feature head shots of deceased celebrities free of charge. Once a celebrity is dead, imdb is less likely to make money on a head shot, and it would be a nice memorial/tribute to the celebrity to display the picture. Also, they could probably get a little positive PR out of it. I think it would also result in a better user experience.

Just a thought.
